My Father was a great lover of jazz music and loved Louis Armstrong, and Cab Calloway, both of whom appeared in films with the "Divine Miss Boop" so this programme was of special interest to him.
From the moment I saw her I loved Betty Boop too.

The first piece of Boopabelia was a Wade figurine of Betty Boop sitting on a green base from a company called "C&S Collectables". I have since purchased many limited edition items from them.
The rest of my collection have been presents bought back from the USA by friends, and items I have purchased via the internet.
I would however like to own an original piece of Boopabelia, maybe one day I will.
Favourite items in my collection are a Statue of Liberty Betty Boop cos it reminds me of my fathers place of birth New York and his love of Betty Boop. I also love my Betty Boop biker doll, and my Betty Boop biker T-Shirt which came from an Italian designer shop in Regents Street, London. It is really wonderful and I love the embroidery on it.
I have also got other members of the family wearing Betty Boop as well. My daughter Nicola wears a Betty Boop T-Shirt and also a Sweatshirt, and my husband is the proud owner of a Betty Boop tie.

A Brief History of Betty Boop
Betty Boop started life as a cartoon dog in the 1930's as a love interest of Bimbo.
Soon Betty became the the main character of the cartoons and Bimbo only the secondary character.
As her popularity grew she went through the transformation of losing her dog characteristics and soon her dog-like ears became her earrings.
She then became the sexy character that Boop fans know and love. Her body was modelled on Mae West and her voice by Mae Questel.
She has appeared in more than 100 cartoons. Along with Betty appeared Grampy, Koko, and of course her dog Pudgy.
During her prime, big musical acts of the day appeared with Betty in her cartoons. "Minnie the Moocher" featured Cab Calloway, and also he appeared in "Snow White" singing the song "St James Infirmary Blues".
But my favourite was Louis Armstrong singing "I'll be glad when your dead, you rascal you".
In the 1930's Betty Boop was made into many collectable items, but it wasn't till the 1980's that she became popular again. In 1988 she appeared in the film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".
You can buy almost anything with Betty Boop on it these days.
